Each of the artist's works went through a series of drafts until it finally reached its final form - in this case as a bronze casting. Nevertheless, his sculpture 'Vertrauen - Kunststück Partnerschaft' is not 'realistic' in the strictest sense of the word - the physical impossibility of the 'balance' of the two figures alone makes this clear. But neither should it be, because Andrés-Gayón was concerned with the artistic realisation of a basic human feeling that defies rational 'calculability': It is trust that makes the impossible possible. 'Kunststück Partnerschaft' realises in pictures what can hardly be described in words. And it makes a wonderful gift for someone whose trust you literally 'enjoy' - be it in the context of friendship, love or a long-term marriage.
