Product information "Auguste Rodin: Sculpture 'Eva', reduction in art casting"
With Eve, who embraces herself in shame, Rodin created a key figure of modern man, who is thrown back on himself without divine assistance. Together with Adam, the figure was originally intended to flank the main entrance to the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris as part of the Gates of Hell. Like Rodin's Thinker, it is an outstanding work of modern sculpture that has its roots in Dante's Divine Comedy and is a visible homage to Michelangelo.' (Dr Katja Lembke, Director of the Landesmuseum Hannover)Original: Bronze, c. 1881, height 173 cm, Landesmuseum Hannover. Directly moulded from the original and reduced in size (reduction). Cast stone with bronzed surface. Size 48.5 x 13 x 15 cm (h/w/d).
