Dieter Finke: Sculpture 'The Shaman', bronze

Product information "Dieter Finke: Sculpture 'The Shaman', bronze"

Finke, a graduate of the Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Berlin and master student of Paul Dierkes and Renée Sintenis, understood like no other how to visualise the spirit that animates the outer shell; he lends his sculpture drama and expressiveness. The play of candlelight and open fire gives Finke's creation a magical vitality: is the spirit of the shaman returning from his flight over primeval landscapes? The flight of his soul into the supernatural spirit world gives him the power to banish evil spirits or to tune good spirits favourably for people. Since time immemorial, shamans have used drumming and self-hypnosis to put themselves into an ecstatic trance and send their subconscious on a magical journey to heaven. The religious roots of shamanism and the healing powers of medicine men can be traced back to the Stone Age. A bird-like creature from another world that opens the view into the depths of our soul and an unknown past. Limited world edition of 199 pieces. ars mundi exclusive edition in fine bronze.
