In old age, Degas became increasingly blind, making it impossible for him to paint. However, his creative energy remained unbroken. He therefore increasingly focussed on small sculptures, which also secured him an eternal reputation as a sculptor. Original: Musée d'Orsay (RF 2099), Paris. Bronze, first cast around 1910.
