In old age, Degas became increasingly blind, making it impossible for him to paint. However, his creative energy remained unbroken. He therefore increasingly focussed on small sculptures, which also secured him an eternal reputation as a sculptor. The 'Spanish Dancer' was first cast by Hébrand in 1900. Original: Bronze, between 1882-1900, Musée d'Orsay, Paris. Sculpture in fine bronze, cast by hand using the lost wax technique. Size 13 x 45 x 19 cm (W/H/D). Weight approx. 4 kg. ars mundi exclusive edition.
