A curious look at the world - Evert den Hartog's rhinoceros In his sculptural works, Evert den Hartog emphasises the shape and form of his motifs in such a way that he never really strays far from the real-life model, but at the same time gives them an additional level of interpretation. This can be a moment of tension, which he 'freezes' perfectly ('Frozen Moments' is therefore the title of a publication about his work), but he also likes to give his animal sculptures something playful, even providing them with a clear pinch of humour. In the case of his little rhinoceros, for example, it is hard not to recognise not only the rhinoceros in it, but also the invitation to do the same and watch the world go by with interest, but also calmly. Sculpture in fine bronze, cast using the lost wax technique, patinated grey/black by hand and polished.
