Product information "Kurt Arentz: Sculpture 'Environmental Eagle', reduction in bronze"
Royal - the environmental eagle by Kurt Arentz - exclusively at ars mundi. Kurt Arentz's fascination with the animal world as a motif in his art was closely linked to his great interest in ecological issues. And so Arentz was delighted when his 'Environmental Eagle' was selected by the New York committee 'Artists for Ecology' as an award for ecologically effective public figures. The eagle is a clever choice of motif, as he is a proverbially keen observer of his environment and at the same time existentially dependent on it. The 1993 winner was Prince Charles (now Charles III, King of England). The committee had less the representative of the European aristocracy in mind than the organic farmer and prominent eco-activist Charles, who had long since been honoured by his son Elizabeth II. There is only one other copy of the one that King Charles received, which is owned by the Arentz family. Sculpture in fine bronze, cast using the lost wax technique, chiselled, polished and patinated by hand. Taken directly from the original and reduced in size (reduction). Limited edition of 199 pieces, numbered, signed and hallmarked with the foundry and ars mundi stamp. With numbered certificate of authenticity and limitation certificate. Format 21.5 x 31 x 16 cm (h/w/d). Weight approx. 3.4 kg. ars mundi exclusive edition.
