'It is almost impossible to carry the torch of truth through a crowd without scorching someone's beard', the Göttingen physicist Georg Christoph Lichtenberg - certainly one of Loriot's intellectual forefathers - once wrote in one of his famous 'Sudelbücher'. Loriot's 'torchbearer' provides light and the right view of things with a stoic expression and obvious pride. Edition in fine bronze. Sculpture cast using the lost wax technique, patinated and partially polished, with removable holder (patinated bronze rod with copper bowl).
