Product information "Maria-Luise Bodirsky: 3-part sculpture 'Family', bronze"
In Plato's Symposium, the comic poet Aristophanes explains love as follows: Humans were once creatures with two heads and four limbs. However, they angered the gods and Zeus punished them by splitting them in two. Since then, every human being has been looking for the right complement. Bodirsky interprets the 'spherical man' as two upright human figures that only form a whole when joined together. But inside them, protected and secure, is the deeper meaning of their community - the child. 3-part sculpture in bronze, cast using the lost wax technique, chiselled and patinated by hand. Limited to 99 numbered and signed pieces. Height 22 cm (couple), height 10 cm (child). Weight 3.9 kg.
