Elegance in metal: In Oliver Franneck's sculpture 'Papillon', many small butterflies merge into a graceful female torso. For his works, the Munich sculptor first draws the contours freehand, cuts them out of metal with a laser and joins the individual parts together to form the sculpture. This creates an exciting dialogue between the shapes of the butterflies and the female nude. The transparency of the object allows for a fascinating interplay of light and shadow. With the fragmented depiction of the body, Franneck wants to create space for the individual fantasies of the viewer.
