1,200 dwarves in the colours black - red - yellow and the three attitudes 'see nothing - hear nothing - say nothing' were specially designed for the art fair art Karlsruhe 2006. Prof Hörl spoke of a 'gentle provocation', especially in the city of law, and his dwarf parade, built on a huge wooden construction in a rectangle, will certainly have made people smile. The 'relatively political idea' (Hörl), which can be interpreted by every viewer as they see fit, is evidence of an art that seeks confrontation and does not want to hide away in the protected ambience of a museum. See nothing, hear nothing and say nothing. This is what these three secret bearers take to heart. Freely adapted from the medieval proverb: 'Audi, vide, tace, si tu vis vivere pace (Listen, see and be silent if you want to live in peace)'. The German contemporary artist Ottmar Hörl knows how to thematise and stage this everyday situation in his usual humorous way.
