Product information "Ottmar Hörl: Sculpture 'Rose' (2012), rose gold-plated version"
'I am an artist who deals with serial structures, with sequencing systems, only when a certain number is reached does it start to become interesting as a picture,' says Ottmar Hörl about his art. And so the artist has already populated the main market square in Nuremberg with 7,000 rabbits (2003), the market square in Wittenberg with 800 Luther figures (2010), the imperial court of the Residenz in Munich with 2,000 white and blue lions (2015) or carried 10,000 owls to Athens for the 2004 Olympic Games. On Herzogplatz in Zweibrücken, it was roses. The background: Zweibrücken is known as the 'City of Roses', as it is home to over 60,000 roses of 2,000 different varieties in one of the largest gardens in Europe. The rose has always been more than just a flower: it has been a symbol since ancient times - in Christian iconography for paradise, later for love, for poetry, for wisdom, for love, for beauty and for transience. It is also this ambiguity that makes them so fascinating for artists. Following Ottmar Hörl's art exhibition in Zweibrücken, we have produced a numbered and signed special edition of 199 pieces made of heavy, rose gold-plated (18 carat) pewter alloy. Size 7 x 9.5 x 9 cm (H/W/D). Weight approx. 1.7 kg. ars mundi exclusive edition.
