Valerie Otte's bronze figures rarely actually present portraits, but rather sensitive character studies. Instead of poses, they offer the viewer a view of people to whom one involuntarily ascribes an emotional inner life. Otte's figures rest completely within themselves, so that the viewer believes he is witnessing an intimate moment. At the same time, they are 'in the world', which is particularly evident in her work 'In Thoughts of You': The young woman sits on a chair, lost in thought - perhaps in a quiet flat, perhaps in a lively café - and gazes pensively at her mobile phone. She may still be hesitating to call a loved one she misses, she may be looking at a photo of her. But there is no doubt that her thoughts are connected to the outside world. Valerie Otte gives the viewer a deep insight into the world of her protagonist's thoughts. Sculpture in fine bronze. Cast by hand using the lost wax technique and patinated green/grey.
