In 1509, Jakob Fugger also donated the Fugger Chapel in St Anne's Church in Augsburg, which was designed by Albrecht Dürer: it was the first building north of the Alps to be imbued with the spirit of humanism. The tomb of the Fugger brothers, built by 1512, magnificently decorated in the following years and consecrated in 1518, was the glamorous prelude to the Renaissance in Germany and one of its high points. Alongside Albrecht Dürer, some of the most important German artists of the Renaissance were involved in its creation.
