Ottmar Hörl: Sculpture 'Rose' (2012), rose gold-plated version
Ottmar Hörl: Sculpture 'Rose' (2012), rose gold-plated version
'I am an artist who deals with serial structures, with sequencing systems, only when a certain number is reached does it start to become interesting as a picture,' says Ottmar Hörl about his art. And so the artist has already populated the main market square in Nuremberg with 7,000 rabbits (2003), the market square in Wittenberg with 800 Luther figures (2010), the imperial court of the Residenz in Munich with 2,000 white and blue lions (2015) or carried 10,000 owls to Athens for the 2004 Olympic Games. On Herzogplatz in Zweibrücken, it was roses. The background: Zweibrücken is known as the 'City of Roses', as it is home to over 60,000 roses of 2,000 different varieties in one of the largest gardens in Europe. The rose has always been more than just a flower: it has been a symbol since ancient times - in Christian iconography for paradise, later for love, for poetry, for wisdom, for love, for beauty and for transience. It is also this ambiguity that makes them so fascinating for artists. Following Ottmar Hörl's art exhibition in Zweibrücken, we have produced a numbered and signed special edition of 199 pieces made of heavy, rose gold-plated (18 carat) pewter alloy. Size 7 x 9.5 x 9 cm (H/W/D). Weight approx. 1.7 kg. ars mundi exclusive edition.

Ottmar Hörl: Sculpture 'Sponti Dwarf', bronzed version
Ottmar Hörl: Sculpture 'Sponti Dwarf', bronzed version
Dwarves enjoy his special affection. They have brought the conceptual and action artist Ottmar Hörl cross-border attention and recognition. With his spectacular large-scale installations in public spaces, the professor and former president of the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg pursues the goal of promoting dialogue and exploring the tension between art and nature. In Seligenstadt in 1994, for example, he set up a thousand blue 'Sponti gnomes' - also known as garden gnomes with a stinky finger - individually and in group formations in the town for his installation 'Fliegender Wechsel' (Flying Change) and left them to their fate. Their gradual disappearance was desirable. For Ottmar Hörl, this was not a change of ownership, but the completion of a shift from public to private space, a change of position in the sense of a 'flying change'. Incidentally, modern times cannot boast of having created the gesture of the stinky finger. It was already known in ancient Rome. ars mundi has produced the 'Sponti Dwarf' as a numbered and signed exclusive edition of 199 pieces each. Three versions in cast metal, optionally gold-plated (24 carat), silver-plated or bronzed. Format each 7 x 15 x 5 cm (W/H/D). 'Sponti dwarf', bronzed version. Weight approx. 1.3 kg.

Otto Waalkes: Sculpture 'Ottifant - in Love - Anniversary Edition', bronze
Otto Waalkes: Sculpture 'Ottifant - in Love - Anniversary Edition', bronze
Exclusive ars mundi anniversary edition for Otto Waalkes' 75th birthday. Otto Waalkes is not only a comedian, singer and actor, he is also a gifted illustrator and caricaturist (and incidentally a graduate of the University of Fine Arts in Hamburg). His best-known caricature is the Ottifant. Originally designed as the signature of his own record label 'Rüssl Räckords', the pachyderm increasingly became Otto's trademark over time, even becoming his own drawn alter ego. To mark Otto's 75th birthday on 22 July 2023, we are delighted to be able to offer you an exclusive anniversary edition of his popular Ottifant, limited to just 980 pieces worldwide. A little tip: We would recommend two of them, because this time his Ottifant is only really complete with its counterpart. Then these two reach out to kiss each other with their trunks raised and their lips pursed - an intimate, simply adorable couple. Sculpture in fine bronze, cast using the lost wax technique, chiselled, polished and patinated by hand. Limited edition of 980 pieces, numbered, signed and hallmarked with the foundry and ars mundi stamp. With numbered certificate of authenticity and limited edition. Format 12 x 7 x 11 cm (h/w/d). The same mischievous smile, the same mischievous look - in short, a portrait of the artist as a young Ottifant. And so our fine bronze edition is not only a small monument to the Ottifant, but also to the great comedian Otto Waalkes.
